Joe Willock is in limbo regarding his Arsenal future.
Mikel Arteta is unsure about what to do with the academy graduate.
Willock’s loan spell to Newcastle United has worked out marvelously well. The midfielder is flourishing in the Magpies system, playing regularly and knocking in important goals. He has seemed to have even made an impression on Arteta.
The Gunners is still hoping to see more of Willock during pre-season for 2021/21. When asked about Willock’s future, Arteta said, “He has a chance. He is a player we really like so at the end of the season he will come back here and then we will make the decision again for what is best to move forward.”
Newcastle United are eager to keep Willock permanently. Steve Bruce has managed the guide the Magpies to safety this season and they will be looking at some new additions in the summer. Arsenal are looking for a fee in the region of £20m which would be a substantial amount of profit.
Former negotiations have not begun just yet but Arsenal are sure to find other suitors for Willock. The Gunners will need to sell quite a few of their players to fund incomings of their own. Unless Willock is firmly in Arteta’s plans for next season, he is likely to be offloaded.
