According to reports, Arsenal may try to sell attacking duo Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus in order to offset their high summer spending. Arsenal has had a huge summer transfer window as sporting director Andrea Berta and manager Mikel Arteta finally look to break the club’s trophy duck after going five years without silverware in north London.

After spending more than £300 million on new players during the summer transfer window, Arteta wants both Trossard and Jesus to leave the Emirates Stadium, according to a report by the Spanish publication Fichajes.

The pair will be free to go during the January transfer window, and Arsenal is open to hearing bids for its offensive pair after bringing in a number of candidates throughout the summer.

Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze, and Noni Madueke joined Arteta this summer for a combined fee of approximately £180 million. This has pushed Jesus to the position of third choice striker for Arsenal, behind Gyokeres and Kai Havertz. Eze and Gabriel Martinelli will compete for playing time on the left flank, while Madueke will support Bukayo Saka on the right.

Arteta planning to brutally sell two Arsenal stars in January

It is unclear how engaged Jesus and Trossard will be over the next months, but Arsenal is reportedly willing to consider bids for the two players. According to reports, Arsenal intends to make a significant financial investment this winter, and the pair is under pressure after dropping in the hierarchy.

Because of an ACL injury that necessitated surgery, Jesus has not been able to play for Arsenal this season. The 28-year-old is not anticipated to return until at least next month. Despite being included in Arsenal’s Premier League squad, the striker was not included in their Champions League roster of 25 players.

Before the January timeframe, Jesus could potentially have an opportunity to re-enter Arteta’s plans. Despite not having started an Arsenal Premier League match this season, the 30-year-old Trossard has played 48 minutes overall in four games, coming off the bench twice. The contracts for both players at the Emirates run through 2027.
