Unai Emery and his staff have been monitoring the highly-rated 19-year-old for months. The Spanish boss reportedly sent out more than one of his scouts to watch Majecki, take the pitch for the Polish champions. The shot-stopper was understandably observed by one of Arsenal’s goalkeeping coaches as well in a recent Poland U20 match.
Majecki is considered to be a wild card right now with bags of potential in his gloves.
It is unlikely that he will be a first team competitor at the Emirates and any deal concluded next month would in all probability see him loaned back to Legia for the remainder of the season.
Bernd Leno has slowly earned his way into the number one spot since making his summer switch from Bayer Leverkusen for £19.2m. Petr Cech is serving as a second-string option but his contract is due to end next July. It is unclear whether he will be offered an extension or if he will accept one or not.
Should the former Chelsea player depart from North London at the end of the season, Emiliano Martinez could be promoted to the number two spot with Majecki following behind. David Ospina’s representatives have already let it be known that the Columbian wants to settle elsewhere.
