Arsenal are closely monitoring Rafael Leão’s situation at AC Milan, but the Portuguese winger’s hefty price tag remains a significant obstacle.

Arsenal Weigh Move for Leão Amidst Chelsea’s Advancing Talks

While the Gunners are interested in the 25-year-old, they are unlikely to make a move unless the financial terms become more favorable.

Leão’s current contract with Milan runs until June 2028 and includes a €175 million release clause.

However, reports suggest that Milan are open to negotiating a lower fee, with figures around €100 million being discussed.

Despite this reduction, Arsenal are hesitant to meet such a valuation, especially considering their existing options on the left wing, including Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have shown a more proactive approach. The Blues have reportedly made formal inquiries about Leão’s availability, viewing him as a potential solution to their attacking challenges.

With uncertainties surrounding players like Mykhailo Mudryk, Chelsea are keen to bolster their wing options and see Leão as a valuable addition.

Leão’s performance in the 2024–25 season included 12 goals and 13 assists across 50 appearances.

However, his relationship with Milan has been strained, marked by tensions with coaches and being benched in key matches.

This situation has fueled speculation about his future, with both Arsenal and Chelsea monitoring developments closely.

While Arsenal’s interest remains, their pursuit of Leão is contingent on a significant reduction in the asking price. Chelsea’s active engagement suggests they might be better positioned to secure the winger’s signature if Milan decides to sell.

As the summer transfer window approaches, the competition for Leão’s services is expected to intensify.
