According to the latest reports from Spain, Arsenal are locked in on the race for Espanyol defender, Mario Hermoso.
Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the centre-half, who made 35 appearances this season and scored 3 goals.
The 23-year-old is a product of the Real Madrid academy and was signed by RCD Espanyol in the summer of 2017. The Periquitos would like to keep him for longer but Zinedine Zidane’s side has a buy-back clause worth €7m.
As a result, Madrid can hope to make a quick profit with so many clubs interested in the player. Hermoso has developed into a sturdy centre-half and his sale would cost around €20m in the present market, leaving the Galacticos to make an easy profit of €13m.
Espanyol pretty much have their hands tied when it comes to Hermoso. The Spaniard has just one more year left in his contract and if he pushed for a transfer, Rubi’s side will have no choice but to comply.
The Gunners can certainly use a player like Hermoso in their lineup. Improving the backline is of the highest priority for Unai Emery this summer and the 23-year-old could be an ideal fit. He is a hard tackler and is naturally left-footed, capable of making plays from the back.
