The young Greek defender has been prolific on loan spell to the Bundesliga.
He previously spent time at Nurnberg where he impressed as well. Mikel Arteta decided to continue his development overseas and sent him back to Germany. Now, at VfB Stuttgart he is proving to be one of their top performers at just 22.
Former Arsenal’s recruitment head, Sven Mislintat who is currently working at Stuttgart admits it will be difficult to recall Mavropanos.
“The better Dino plays, the less likely it is to be able to loan him again,” he said.
Mavropanos was one of Arsene Wenger’s final additions, one who came in as a wildcard. While the youngster showed signs of promise, he could never really break into the senior side at North London. Fortunately, he might get further opportunities in the future as he continues to grow.
He has made it impossible for Arteta to overlook his talents this summer when recruitments begin for team improvements. With David Luiz in the final year of his contract and other players tipped to follow, Mavropanos could finally be handed a proper opportunity.
Or else, he could be sold off permanently and the profits get reinvested in other areas. Arsenal are looking to reinforce several positions after trimming down the squad numbers in January.
