One of Arsenal’s brightest young prospects, Emile Smith Rowe spoke to Sky Sports to reveal how life really is under Unai Emery.
The Spanish boss ended a 22-year reign of Arsene Wenger at North London and has already had a massive influence on some of the club’s youth products, more so than ever on Rowe. The 18-year-old broke into the senior squad this season and has already made 7 appearances and scored an impressive tally of 4 goals.
The youngster was quoted, “We had conversations at the beginning about what positions I like to play and what my attributes are. Since then he has been giving me a lot of help and advice. The manager has done one-to-one stuff with me a few times after training, working on one-v-one attacking and just being patient.”
A pacey teenager with bags of attacking talent under his belt, Rowe has made quite the impression on the Arsenal fans. He has showcased his maturity and intelligence on the pitch while remaining patient for chances.
Primarily an attacking midfielder, the Englishman has mostly impressed from the flanks. He has already been capped 20 times for his country’s U16, U17, U18 and U19 sides. Having the favourable nod of the manager at club level will only enhance his development further.
The youngster further added, “He’s not going to pull back, he’s just going to keep trying and keep getting what he wants. I think that’s good for the whole team. He does speak a lot in Spanish when he gets a bit angry, but it’s good that he’s so passionate. He wants to win and he wants to improve.”
