Arsenal fans woke up to a glimpse of the future in their pre-season opener in Singapore, as 15-year-old Max Dowman made a sensational senior debut in a 1‑0 victory over AC Milan.

Arsenal’s 15-Year-Old Max Dowman Wows on Senior Debut Against AC Milan in Singapore

Introduced in the second half off the bench, Dowman—making history as one of the youngest ever to play for Arsenal’s first team, even in a friendly instantly drew attention with his confident dribbles and sharp footwork in tight spaces.

Several AC Milan defenders were beaten with one mazy run that earned him a free-kick, signalling the arrival of a very special talent.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was full of praise afterwards:

“Very happy with all the kids… they’re able to play at that level at 15 years old… when somebody makes you feel so comfortable and confident, you can go and do it.”

Former Gunners winger Perry Groves, who watched Dowman in an FA Youth Cup clash, declared him the best 15‑year‑old he had ever seen.

“I had never seen a 15‑year‑old that good … what he does is engage players—stop, start, slow down, speed up…” Groves added, stressing that only injury or attitude could curtail Dowman’s rise.

Dowman’s youth record speaks for itself. He became the youngest-ever Premier League 2 player at 14 and ended last season with an eye-watering 20 goals and 10 assists in 25 Under‑18 games, despite rarely featuring as a striker.

Internationally, he’s already logged 14 caps and four goals for England U17s and earned praise within Arsenal’s setup as a player with a “big, big talent” and a likely future first-team regular.

Dowman becomes the latest in a long line from the Hale End academy making early strides with the first team joining peers like Ethan Nwaneri, Myles Lewis‑Skelly, and Marli Salmon, who also featured in Singapore.

Arteta remains cautious about rushing his development—Premier League rules prevent him from featuring this season due to age restrictions but sees his inclusion on the tour as a crucial first step.

With his blend of technical polish and composure, Max Dowman may well be the next academy graduate ready to grace Arsenal’s senior ranks.
