The 3-2 loss to Southampton did bring back haunting memories of the season past but the Gunners clearly are a better performing side than last year. In the2017/18 season, the team only secured 16 away points under Arsene Wenger but so far, the current squad has already managed 14 out of a possible 18 in the league.
The North London outfit were on an inspiring 22-game unbeaten run before Ralph Hassenhutl’s men got to them. Arsenal are very much in the top-four race with more than half of the season left to go.
They levelled themselves with Chelsea last weekend with a 3-1 win over Burnley, the Blues choked against Leicester City with a 0-1 defeat.
Realistically Arsenal can aim for 4 points out of a possible 6 in the next two games to keep their hopes of finishing in one of the Champions League qualification spots. Emery does have a few injuries that he will have to work around on the defensive end.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s 6-week long foot injury was a big blow but Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey are available for selection.
