Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger praised his successor Unai Emery for his impact on the club so far. Wenger left Arsenal at the end of last season after spending 22 years at the club.

Unai Emery brought in some new players at Arsenal like Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira. Emery had a most forgetful start to his Arsenal spell as the club lost their first two Premier League matches against Manchester City and Chelsea.

However, Arsenal rebounded brilliantly by gong unbeaten in 22 matches before losing to Southampton last weekend.

Speaking to beIN Sports, Wenger said that the club is in good hands under Emery. The Frenchman said, “I think Emery is doing an excellent job. With the recruits he has brought in, it has brought a form of defensive stability and so I think everything is going well.

The team is in good hands and I always said that. A lot of people thought when I left the club that the team would need to completely rebuild – I never thought that.

I am very happy that these people have been proven wrong.”

Arsenal are currently 5th in the Premier League table, three points behind 4th placed Chelsea. They suffered their second successive defeat against Spurs earlier this week which ended their Carabao Cup hopes.

The Gunners will hope to come back to winning ways tomorrow when they take on Burnley.
