Arsene Wenger has admitted he tried to bring in Jadon Sancho from Manchester City when he was in the charge of Arsenal.

Sancho was one of the hottest youth prospects during his time in Manchester and a number of clubs were very keen to acquire his service. The 18 year old wasn’t happy with his lack of game time under Pep Guardiola and decided to move to Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund back in 2017.

He had a tough time initially to acclimatize to the German condition but this season he has been one of the highlights of the German top flight. The winger who also got his first England call up has been involved in 18 goals so far.

Wenger who left the managerial position last summer insists Sancho’s London connection might have forced him in indulging in a move for him. “I wanted to take him from Man City when he didn’t get the games.

“I tried to lure him because he’s from London. I tried to get him to Arsenal. He’s one of the best players of his generation. He can dribble, he has the arrogance.

“There’s something in there that is part of the big players. You can call it arrogance, confidence, belief; but it has to be there.”
