Mikel Arteta has refused to engage with speculation surrounding Myles Lewis-Skelly’s future at Arsenal, insisting that transfer interest in his players merely reflects their quality.

Recent reports have linked the teenage midfielder with Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea, but the Arsenal manager dismissed questions about the rumours following his side’s 1-1 pre-season draw against Como.

When pressed about the speculation, Arteta made it clear he would not fuel the gossip.

“I’m not going to talk about any speculation,” the Spanish coach stated firmly.

However, the Arsenal boss did offer a broader perspective on why such stories emerge, suggesting they should be viewed as a compliment to the club’s recruitment and development.

“If there is a speculation about our players, that’s a good sign,” Arteta explained.

“That means that we attract attention and they’re doing a good job.”

Arteta also provided an update on Arsenal’s ongoing transfer business, confirming the club remains proactive in seeking reinforcements before the window slams shut.

The Gunners have already secured significant signings this summer, but the manager made it clear they are not finished yet.

“Well, there is more that we want to do because every time we have an opportunity to improve the squad and bring more quality and depth to the squad, we need to do that,” Arteta said.

He acknowledged the complexities of the transfer market, stressing that deals do not always materialise despite the club’s best efforts.

“But we are actively trying to do so. The thing in the market, it doesn’t just depend on you, and we are very clear on that.”

Arteta praised the club’s ambition but stopped short of guaranteeing further arrivals.

“The approach, the will and the desire of the club, that’s unquestionable, and we want to try to do that. But we cannot promise that we’re going to do it because, again, it doesn’t only depend on us.”

Arsenal fans will hope the club can deliver additional quality before the deadline, with Arteta clearly identifying areas where improvement remains possible.
