Wenger was the manager of Arsenal when he made current boss Arteta captain in 2014.
Mikel Arteta has admitted that he wants Arsene Wenger to make a return to the club and has held the discussion with the former Arsenal boss.
Wenger left the Gunners in 2018 after over two decades as Arsenal’s manager. He was successful in his initial years during his time at Emirates.
The Frenchman also helped Arsenal move from Highbury to the Emirates. He wasn’t impressive in his final years at Gunners.
Arsenal failed to make the top four at the end of the 2017/2018 season, and he left after this. Since 2017/18, Gunners haven’t finished in the top four yet. Since then, Wenger hasn’t returned to the club, even as a visitor.
Wenger was the manager of Arsenal when he made current boss Arteta the captain in 2014.
Arteta spoke in a press conference via The Daily Mail: ‘Hopefully we can bring him close because I think he would have a great time just seeing the environment that he can create around him when he’s around this place, because of the respect, admiration and love that everybody at the club has for what he’s done and for what he represents as a person in this club.”
