Arsenal made a tough comeback to the Premier League after the international break.

The Gunners were ranking on 3 wins out of 4 but faced defeat to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in a cagey 1-0 affair.

The Gunners were disappointed to see that their new signing Thomas Partey played only 6 minutes of the match. Partey joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid on deadline day after the Gunners dramatically sealed the transfer by submitting his release clause to La Liga thereby triggering his transfer.

The 27-year-old midfielder is expected to be the backbone of Mikel Arteta’s midfield but the manager has called for calm over Partey’s role in the team.

“Yes, we will see how quickly we can make it with him,” Arteta said. “But I think we have to respect that (adjustment) process and that timing for him. He only trained (for) a day really, with us.

“It’s a lot of new information. It’s a completely different game model for him as well to understand, and we have to respect a little bit that. But I think that when he came on he looked good.”

The Gunners have a new steely look under Arteta and adding Partey will only strengthen their defence.
