One of the key reasons why Mikel Arteta was given the go ahead of experienced campaigners like Carlo Ancelotti, Mauricio Pochettino and Max Allegri was his philosophy.

Philosophy which at Arsenal means so much ever since the reign of Wenger had begun.

What Wenger gave Arsenal was more than money, trophies or a new stadium. He gave them an identity based on their philosophy. Now with Wenger gone, Arsenal need someone to maintain their identity.

Hence, the reason why Arteta was appointed does make sense to a true Arsenal fan. So what is this philosophy?

Well Callum Chambers has explained it to us here. We do not know how successful Arteta will be but what every Arsenal fan will expect is this philosophy to match their identity!

“Mikel wants us to be brave, take responsibility and to work hard for each other,” Chambers told BT Sport. “We’ll be working hard on his philosophy this week in training.

“We were ready for the challenge and to battle in the 50/50 duels. We’ve been working hard in training so I was pleased to contribute to a clean sheet today.

“We’re a promising group so we have to work hard and build on today’s performance.”
