AS Roma are reportedly targeting Lucas Torreira this summer.
Previous reports claimed that Torino nearly had an agreement with Arsenal to sign Torreira for £22m.
The defensive midfielder is unsettled at London and wants to return to Italy this summer. Mikel Arteta prefers other players over him in the centre of the park and that is not ideal for the 24-year-old.
The likes of Torino, Fiorentina and AS Roma are the most likely to land him if they meet Arsenal’s demands. The Gunners are not holding out for much in this financial climate and is even ready to take a loss of £2-4m just to raise funds.
If interest continues to rise, they might be able to recoup the transfer sum after all. Roma definitely has one massive convincing factor and that is European football. Torreira is still young and will want to fulfil his potential playing for the biggest clubs.
Arsenal, on the other hand, can only be convinced with a cash deal. Roma is open to swapping out Amadou Diawara but it is unclear if the Gunners are really interested in his profile. Even if it is through a loan deal or structured payments, Arsenal will want to receive the full transfer sum for the Uruguayan international.
