AS Roma Wants Arsenal To Pay Mkhitaryan's Wages

AS Roma has demanded Arsenal to pay a part of Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s wages for the next season.

That is even if they sign him on a permanent basis this summer.

Reports claim that the Gunners are holding out for a £10 million transfer fee after his successful loan spell in the Serie A. Mkhitaryan has also revealed his wishes to stay in Italy and how he wants to end his time in London. The Armenian never really struck the right chord with either Manchester United or Arsenal and is ready to move on.

His £180,000-per-week wages are a real hindrance to Arsenal’s future plans and getting him off their books is a priority. Still paying his wages would be the opposite of solving that issue. Roma know there is not much demand for the Armenian which is why they are willing to make such audacious demands.

If they are unable to pay his full wages, then the player himself should be asked to take a pay cut during these trying times. Mkhitaryan’s contract is due to end in June 2021 which means he is a year away from leaving on a free. That would be as harmful as keeping him on for another season. Arsenal might have to bite the bullet on any deal coming their way at this point, even if it means lowering their asking price.
