Former Arsenal player Ashley Cole has faith in Freddie Ljungberg’s managerial abilities for Arsenal and wants him to become manager instead of Carlo Ancelotti.
Freddie Ljungberg was appointed as interim manager for the club after Unai Emery got sacked. His team saw a West Ham win on Monday night, proving his skills as a manager. However, Arsenal is keen on ex-Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti to mangage the club.
Cole doesn’t feel the same way. He talks about Ljungberg being the next manager.
“There were a lot of people saying ‘Wenger out’,” he said.
“Then Wenger went and maybe they (the fans) understood what he actually did for the club and how he kept it together.
“Arsenal are in a transition period – they tried Emery and for whatever reason it didn’t work out.
“Freddie is there and hopefully he can take over as permanent manager – he knows the club inside out.
“Freddie was my friend at Arsenal and hopefully he can change some things there.”
Cole gave his opinion about Ancelotti over at Chelsea as well.
“A lot was spoken about whether I was going to leave or not but my heart was to stay at Chelsea,” added Cole.
“Carlo did magnificently with the team.
“I liked how he was, not just as a manager but as a man. He was like your best friend.”
