One of the players Aston Villa is after plays for Arsenal, and they are looking into the possibility of adding attackers to their roster. Their success under the Spanish manager may be attributed to Unai Emery and his team’s aggressive attitude in the transfer market in recent seasons.
Aston Villa and Arsenal have reportedly held discussions over the acquisition of Belgian winger Leandro Trossard, according to Football Transfers. In January, Emery’s club also made an attempt to sign the winger, but Arsenal was certain that the player would accept their offer of a new deal.
The Gunners stated throughout the winter transfer window that they had no intention of selling the attacker, but because the player has yet to sign a new contract, that may now change. The player is now free to decide his future and weigh his choices after the club informed him of Villa’s interest.
Trossard is also thinking about other teams’ interest in him. Arsenal values him at about £18 million (€20.8 million), which Villa can easily afford given Jacob Ramsey’s impending big-money transfer to Newcastle and the developing interest in Leon Bailey.
Brentford has also reached out to Trossard, as FootballTransfers initially reported, as the Bees seek a seasoned Premier League attacker to bolster their attacking options. It occurs as Yoane Wissa continues to press for a move to Newcastle from the club.
We disclosed in July that Trossard is amenable to staying at the Emirates and that Mikel Arteta would love to keep him. Despite the months-long impasse, sources have indicated that a deal on new conditions may still be possible.
However, if promised a consistent starting position—something Arsenal cannot promise after expanding their offensive alternatives this summer—a transfer away may be appealing.
Given the several teams vying for Trossard’s services and the lack of a new contract, his future may be one of the most eagerly followed topics in the last weeks of the window.
