Atletico Madrid have shortlisted Alexandre Lacazette as a probable replacement of Antoine Griezmann.
Griezmann announced his decision of leaving the Wanda Metropolitano a few days ago and Diego Simeone is already planning for a life without their talismanic forward.
Lacazette has struck a fruitful partnership with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and has enjoyed great camaraderie with the 29 year old. The pair was responsible for Arsenal’s Europa League semifinal win over Valencia and if the Gunners are to lift the Europa League title on 29th may in Baku the onus will be on these two.
Griezmann’s potential suitor Barcelona are also believed to be a great admirer of the French man and are interested in the player in a bid to reshape their attacking lineup. An unplanned glitch on their official website showed Lacazette as their listed player although the Catalan club were very quick to remove it.
Atleti are ready to wait till the Europa League final as Lacazette’s fate could be sealed after this match. A Champions League place is at stake for the North London club and a defeat in this match would be a big boost for the Spanish club.
