Atletico Madrid are reportedly in the chase to sign Hector Bellerin.

The news as a twist comes from the end of Arsenal are reportedly looking at suitors to off load the Spaniard.

He has been at the club since 2011 and is one of the senior players at the club now. However, he has had a long run of injuries that has seen him make only 200 appearances in over 8 seasons.

Bellerin remains a talented player but it is being believed that new head coach Mikel Arteta is ready to hedge his bets on Cedric Soares instead, Arsenal’s latest signing from Southampton.

This would allow the Gunners to get a hefty fee on one of their top players and allow Mikel Arteta to spend the money instead on his prefered personnel in the club.

It does come as a bigger shock as it was only as early as February end when Bellerin was reported praising Arteta and his tactics.

“Mikel has always been very tactical in his work and in his whole life, he’s very professional with very clear ideas.

“It’s very early doors in time. [Arteta] has a new philosophy and the way he has implemented it in the last few games that we’ve played, there’s been a big change.”

Atletico Madrid currently have Kieran Trippier in their ranks and Vrsaljko as a back up but should they sign Bellerin they will have to sell on of the first two to make space for him. Bellerin is a Spaniard and a return home to play in a technical league would ideally suit the player as well given his style of football.
