Arsenal’s appeal against the three-match ban of their influential midfielder Lucas Torreira has been rejected by the FA. The Uruguayan ace was sent off the pitch for his challenge on Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose in the stoppage time of the north London derby, which earned him a straight red and a three-match ban.
Though the Gunners appealed to lift the ban over the midfield ace, the FA has decided to stick with the decision to uphold the ban, which leaves the north London club in dire straits ahead of their important clash against Manchester United this weekend. However, it comes as a relief for the Gunners as the player will be available for their Europa League clash against Stade Rennais FC in the round of 16.
The Gunners have slipped back to the fifth position after they clinched a point from their match against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League and will look to consolidate their place in the top four of the league table with a victory of arch-rivals Manchester United.
The Red Devils are in gallant form and have won themselves a cracker of a contest against Southampton in their last outing in the Premier League as they came back twice from a deficit to win the match by 3-2. They are currently in the fourth position and a win against Arsenal will give them an upper hand over the north London club in the race to end the season among the top four clubs in the Premier League.
