Bernd Leno admits that poor results have soured the atmosphere around Arsenal.
The Gunners are tenth in the Premier League spending another season outside of the top six.
Mikel Arteta’s men went 7 games without winning at a stretch last year, from which they have not been able to recovered from. Arsenal are still winning games but it might not be enough to squeeze in an European spot.
“We were completely lacking the consistency,” Leno told German outlet Kicker . “In [the] autumn, we had big problems, a bad atmosphere… and we turned the corner.
“Now we’re at least getting a taste of the Europa League again. [To qualify for the] Champions League will be very, very difficult.”
Arsenal have better chances of making it to Europe next season by winning the Europa League this season. With just over 10 games left in the Premier League, it will be difficult to upstage several teams in front of them.
Fourth-placed Chesea sit 10 points ahead and sixth-placed Liverpool by 5. Mikel Arteta and the entire Gunners team will have to step up if they don’t want to end the season on a bad note.
It was last campaign’s FA Cup victory that proved to be a saving grace from a disastrous season. This year, there is no promise of a domestic trophy.
