Former Manchester United Striker believes that Nicolas Pepe’s form is the biggest problem for Unai Emery at Arsenal.
Nicolas Pepe became the most expensive signing for Arsenal after £72million transfer from Lille in the summer. He was hyped-up quite a lot but till now he has been disappointing.
Nicolas Pepe has scored just once in 9 appearances for Gunners this season. He even admitted that he is low on confidence.
Pepe was benched for Arsenal’s Europa League clash, where the Gunners delivered an impressive 4-0 result. And he didn’t do much after entering as a sub.
And according to Michael Owen, this is Unai Emery’s biggest cause of concern.
Owen told BT Sport, “We’re talking about a lot of positives for Arsenal but there’s one negative niggling away at the moment and that’s Pepe,”
“I was excited by him, I watched him in the French league, he looked a very good player. He started the season, the first game he looks as though he had a bag of tricks.”
“But he’s just gone off the boil and that’s a huge investment for anybody but it’s a huge investment for Arsenal especially.”
“I would have liked to have seen him come on and play really well today against an average team, show his stuff and get a bit of confidence because that’s a concern I think.”
