Borja Mayoral has a contract with Getafe until the end of the 2026-27 season.
Arsenal are keen on signing Getafe forward Borja Mayoral. Their previous bid was also rejected by La Liga club. The 26-year-old has admitted that he has been “surprised” by suggestions that the Gunners are looking to sign him this month.
Mayoral has been in great form for Getafe this season, scoring 14 goals and providing one assist in 22 appearances across all competitions. He has 12 goals and one assist in La Liga this season.
Arsenal had earlier submitted a £22m bid for the Spain international and it was rejected by the La Liga club.
Mayoral has admitted that he has been “surprised” by the talk, with the striker insisting that no discussions have taken place over a transfer.
Mayoral spoke to Mediaset, “It’s news that has surprised me too. I haven’t spoken to the club or my agent. I’m very focused on Getafe on a day-to-day basis.”
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is a huge fan of the Mayoral who came through the youth system at Real Madrid. He netted seven goals and grabbed four assists in 33 appearances for the Madrid giants.
The 26-year-old striker completed a permanent move to Getafe in the summer of 2022. Brentford, Crystal Palace and Fulham also made their interest in him.
He has a contract with Getafe until the end of the 2026-27 season. Arsenal have some other options as well like Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee.
