Looks like Arsenal is not going to sign a new contract with Mesut Ozil.
And according to the Express, Arsenal is willing to let go of Ozil for FREE.
Unai Emery had dismissed him but he has since blossomed under Arteta’s reign and has become an important part of Arsenal. So, what’s the rush to get rid of him?
Arsenal’s wallet isn’t as full as it used to be and with Mesut Ozil’s £350k per week, the Gunners can’t keep up with his wage demands.
Mesut Ozil, however, doesn’t want to leave Arsenal, which is where the issue arises. Arsenal is not willing to sign a new contract with him due to his huge salary needs. Even though Ozil has definitely improved, his pay does not match his skills or performance.
But Ozil is not ready to step down or have a cut of his wage. And with Premier League suspended, each club has been taking a major financial hit, and that includes Arsenal. Currently, Ozil is the highest paid earner in Arsenal – and with 18 appearances and 1 goal this season, he is not living up to it.
Moreover, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract comes to an end in 2021 and the Gunners are not going to let him go – at any cost. If it means giving away Ozil for free, then so be it.
