The news that Celtic has reached an agreement to re-sign Kieran Tierney from Arsenal has been verified for the first time by Brendan Rodgers. Celtic is hoping to get Tierney back to Glasgow before the end of this transfer window since they have a free transfer in place for the summer. After rising through the Scottish champions’ youth ranks, Tierney was sold by Celtic to Arsenal in 2019 for a reported £25 million.

Since it became apparent that Arsenal will not exercise their option to extend Tierney’s contract at the end of this season, there has been constant speculation that he might rejoin Celtic. Prior to the Champions League encounter against Aston Villa on the eve of the match, Rodgers had been silent about the Tierney problem. He stated that Tierney would “ideally” relocate north in the upcoming days. According to Rodgers, “He is still an Arsenal player at this moment.” It will undoubtedly happen in the summer, as we have all agreed. It would be nice if we could finish it earlier.

Kieran Tierney seals sensational Celtic return

After suffering a hamstring injury while playing for Scotland at Euro 2024 in the summer, Tierney was forced to wait until December to make his season debut. With Arsenal lacking offensive options, Mikel Arteta has been using the 27-year-old off the bench in recent weeks, frequently in a more advanced role on the left wing. He has only made one start across all competitions.

Arsenal will pay the player’s salaries until the conclusion of his contract, and Celtic will look to sign him on a loan until the end of the season. The player will then be signed by Celtic this summer as a free agent. In anticipation of a possible transfer to Como, Celtic has let Alex Valle rejoin Barcelona. This season, the Spaniard has made 19 appearances for the team, helping Celtic win the League Cup and advance to the UCL next round.
