Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has admitted that he agrees with Thomas Tuchel’s view that he needs to improve his goalscoring record for England.

Arsenal Star Bukayo Saka Agrees: It’s Time to Step Up for England

Saka became Arsenal’s highest goalscorer for the national team after finding the net in the 3-0 friendly win over Wales.

However, Tuchel noted that the 24-year-old’s tally of 13 goals in 46 appearances should be much higher for a player of his quality, suggesting that 30 goals would be a more fitting target.

Responding to Tuchel’s comments, Saka told TalkSPORT: “I 100 percent agree with him. So, yeah, let’s go for more. I think just being on the pitch is enough.

In the England shirt, you have players of immense quality who can create and score chances. It’s up to me to take those opportunities.”

The winger’s goal against Wales saw him surpass Arsenal legend Cliff Bastin as the club’s top England scorer a milestone that Saka described as “amazing” but not his main focus.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, he said:

“I don’t really think too much about records. For me, it’s more about winning trophies.

But when I look back, being the top scorer for Arsenal for England is a great achievement. I just need to keep improving and progressing.”

With England already qualified for the 2026 World Cup, Gareth Southgate’s side are using their upcoming fixtures against Serbia and Albania to fine-tune preparations.

Saka is eager to maintain his form and fitness to ensure he’s part of the squad heading to North America next summer.

“The World Cup is beautiful,” Saka added.

“It’s one of the biggest tournaments and something every player dreams of.

I just want to stay in good shape, keep scoring, and be part of that journey.”

Saka’s determination and humility continue to underline why he remains one of England’s brightest young stars.
