Bukayo Saka had limped off during Arsenal’s Champions League game on Tuesday.
Arsenal will take on Manchester City in an important Premier League encounter on Sunday. The Gunners boss revealed in his Friday press conference that Bukayo Saka is in contention to start despite picking up an injury midweek.
The North London club will face City at the Emirates this weekend. If they win, they will take the top spot back from City. Meanwhile, they haven’t beaten Man City in the last 12 encounters.
The Gunners have not beaten the Cityzens in the top flight in the last eight years. They lost each of their previous 12 encounters. Saka will be crucial to end this losing streak on Sunday.
Saka was not sure to feature in the XI. He had limped off during Arsenal’s Champions League game on Tuesday. However, Arteta feels Saka is now “in contention” to play.
He spoke to Sky Sports, “He is in contention.”
“Let’s see how he progresses from here to Sunday.
“Obviously, he had to leave the pitch and that’s never good news, but let’s see how he recovers.”
The English international is a vital player for Arsenal and arguably their most important player so far this season.
