Bukayo Saka’s week could not get any better as the Arsenal youngster continues his rapid descent to stardom.
After getting a callup to the senior England side, the teenager topped it off with his first Arsenal goal at the Emirates.
Saka headed in a team effort from close range to give Arsenal the lead in Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Sheffield United. The 19-year-old put in a man-of-the-match-worthy performance to continue impressive Mikel Arteta and the fans alike.
“All the things happening to me, I feel so blessed,” he said after. “The England call-up, today with the goal – I’m just a happy man. I don’t get a lot of headers, but this one came so perfectly to me I had to put it in. I went with full confidence and luckily it went in.
“I’m trying to do my best, anytime the boss picks me it’s for a reason. He has confidence in me so I try to repay the trust and faith that he puts in me.”
Arsenal were held to a draw and a defeat against Sheffield United last season in the Premier League. Saka knew how important it was to see off the Blades in this matchup.
He added, “We give so much credit to Sheffield (United) because they’re such a good side, they made it really difficult for us today. We’re just happy to get the win because we know how tough it is to play against them.”
