They had to recently sack their former boss Unai Emery. Emery was appointed by the Gunners after the departure of Arsene Wenger from Arsenal. It was never going to be an easy task for the Spaniard but he failed disastrously, especially this season.
Arsenal were late to realise that they needed a manager who would be able to uphold the club culture and keep them playing the Gunners way. Hence, in came Mikel Arteta.
The Spaniard was a protege to Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola for so long and has now overtaken as Arsenal boss as his first managerial ride.
His start in terms of result has not been easy as Arsenal could only manage a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth and then crashed to a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea.
However, what Arteta has done at the club already is bring back the style and spirit of Arsenal.
The players are playing to a formation and following the Arsenal culture. This week they take on United, another struggling club searching for their lost identity.
Ole’s men have been the robinhood of the Premier League and will want to add Arsenal to their rich scalp.
As for Mikel, he will want to get his first win under his belt and beating Manchester United will definitely warm up the atmosphere at the club.
