Cesc Fabregas and Patrick Vieira’s encounter after many years turned into one of the most comedic stories in football.
The duo were midfield partners for a very short period at Arsenal before Vieira moved on to Inter Milan in 2005.
Now, the manager of Ligue 1 outfit, OGC Nice, Vieira did get to meet two of his former Gunners teammates, Thierry Henry and Fabregas during a game against AS Monaco. The latter got shipped off to the Stade Louis II this past January from Chelsea.
Fabregas revealed to Nice-Matin, “I saw Patrick Vieira when we played against Nice with Monaco.
“It was very funny because I met him in the locker room before the match, he was with the President of Nice and he said to him while looking at me: ‘President, this is the kid who made me leave Arsenal’.”
The Spaniard further discussed upon the hardships of leaving the Premier League. He said, “I am a competitor first and foremost.
“I will be able to say at the end of my career that I have experienced all the situations in a club, the top and the fight.
“I was sad at leaving London and the Premier League it represents 10 years of my life but also very excited to discover a new challenge probably the hardest of my career. I have never been afraid of challenges.”
