Both these English giants want the Gunners captain on their side. Frank Lampard wants Aubameyang after not being able to secure any strikers in the January transfer window which just went by – and Chelsea made no signings.
Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud will be leaving this season end, with their contracts expiring in the summer and Chelsea making no move to renew their deals. Thus, Lampard will have to find a partner replacement for sole striker Tammy Abraham – who also is not in the best shape right now.
As for Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp is on the hunt for strikers too. He does prefer Aubameyang because of them working together at their time at Borussia Dortmund. Although keen on the Arsenal captain, right now, Liverpool is more interested in securing Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.
Liverpool signing Auba would actually be a great fit. Since he already is on familiar terms with Klopp, he wouldn’t have much issues fitting in with the Reds and is known for his goalscoring abilities too.
The Gabon international has scored 17 goals and made 1 assist across 26 Premier League games for Arsenal in the season, according to the stats on the Premier League official website.
When Arteta was asked about what the Gunners are doing to make him stay, he said:
“I think it’s been tough for him. You know a player like him, there’s been a lot of disappointments in the last few months and years because he has big expectations.
“You know he wants to play for the biggest club in the biggest tournaments, and be up there with the best players in the world.
“And we have to try to support him and give him everything at the club so he really feels fulfilled here. That’s the challenge I have.”
Other than the two English clubs, Barcelona has also been reported to be very interested in securing Aubameyang.
