In the Sky Sports transfer talk, Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol has spoken specifically about Coutinho.
He has stated that for Barcelona, it won’t easy selling off Coutinho, however desperate they are. Coutinho was signed by the Catalan club for a fee of £105 million (becoming £142 million with add ons and clauses) in 2018. And now, Barcelona want to sell him for more than just £100m.
However, why Arsenal’s name came up is because Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian has known people at Tottenham, Chelsea and – you guessed it – the Gunners. The issue here is that for any of these three clubs to sign Coutinho (which includes Arsenal), his asking price would have to be lowered. Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta certainly will not agree to that price tag for the 28-year-old.
But right now, Barcelona cannot afford to be in loss over a transfer. With the continuing spread of the novel coronavirus and La Liga being suspended, Barcelona have been with a massive financial crisis. By selling Coutinho for more than £100m, they hope to put some cash back in their wallet.
But looking at the situation now, Kaveh Solhekol further comments that it might not end too well for the Catalan club.
