David Moyes Lauds Arsenal’s Declan Rice as a £150M Player and Future England Captain

David Moyes, the former West Ham manager, believes Arsenal’s Declan Rice is worth a staggering £150 million and views him as a future England captain.

Rice, who transferred to Arsenal for £105 million last summer, has been instrumental in Arsenal’s strong performance, playing every Premier League game last season and helping them finish just two points behind Manchester City.

Moyes recently shared his admiration for Rice on talkSPORT, praising Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta for further developing the talented midfielder. “Mikel has done a great job with him,” Moyes remarked, adding that Rice has improved in areas he previously found challenging.

Moyes had long predicted Rice’s immense value, advising West Ham to hold out for £150 million during transfer negotiations.

“I was telling West Ham to hold out for £150 million, and people thought I was crazy,” Moyes said with a chuckle.

“But now, looking at some players in that price range, Declan has surpassed them. Honestly, £100 million seems like a bargain.”

Moyes’s admiration for Rice extends beyond the pitch. He highlighted Rice’s exemplary conduct and leadership qualities, comparing him to the legendary Bobby Moore.

“I always saw Declan as a future England captain. He carries himself so well, both on and off the field,” Moyes noted.

Despite Rice’s evident leadership skills, Gareth Southgate has not yet appointed him as vice-captain for the England squad. Instead, Kyle Walker was chosen to fill the role left vacant by Jordan Henderson’s omission from the Euro 2024 squad.

As Rice prepares for England’s opening Euro 2024 match against Serbia, his former manager’s glowing endorsement only adds to the growing anticipation around his potential future with the national team.

Moyes’s insights underscore the belief that Rice’s value and influence will continue to rise, solidifying his status as one of football’s brightest stars.
