Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has declared that the current squad possesses the necessary hunger and belief to end the club’s 22-year Premier League title drought this season.
“It’s on Us”: Rice Believes Arsenal Finally Have the Hunger to Win League
The England international, who has been a pivotal figure for the Gunners since his arrival, insists the team is fully focused on getting over the line after falling just short in the previous two campaigns.
Rice opened up about the internal drive within the dressing room, revealing that the players feel a burning desire to convert their potential into silverware.
He emphasized that manager Mikel Arteta has provided them with all the tools required for success.
“So hungry,” Rice told The Sun.
“That’s why I joined this football club. I fully believed in the manager’s vision.”
The midfielder explained that his decision to move to North London stemmed from a deep conviction in the project Arteta was building.
He saw the quality within the group from the outside and wanted to be a part of it.
“When I was looking at the team from the outside, I fully believe in all of the players and the quality that we had,” he added.
While crediting Arteta for establishing a robust tactical platform, Rice stressed that the responsibility now falls squarely on the players’ shoulders to execute on the pitch.
He believes the squad has grown stronger and more cohesive over time.
“We have only gone from strength to strength with the quality of the squad,” Rice stated.
“But now, it’s on us. I have said the manager gives us everything.
He gives us the platform to go and play. It is on us to take the responsibility and go and win.”
Rice conveyed a palpable sense of belief within the camp, suggesting that this year feels different from the last. He used a vivid metaphor to describe the team’s collective mindset.
“I can sense that this year, I can feel that fire in our tummies to go and do it,” he said.
The timing of his confidence is significant. Arsenal currently sits at the top of the Premier League table with 61 points from 28 matches.
They hold a five-point lead over defending champions Manchester City, although Pep Guardiola’s side does have a game in hand.
The Gunners are chasing a historic achievement. The club last lifted the trophy in the 2003/2004 season under Arsène Wenger, a campaign famously remembered for the “Invincibles” team that went undefeated throughout the entire league season.
Rice and his teammates are now determined to etch their own names into club folklore by finally bringing the title back to the Emirates Stadium.
