Eddie Nketiah looks increasingly likely to stay at Arsenal in the January transfer window as they turn another bid down.
According to reports, Arsenal have rejected down a second bid from Crystal Palace for Eddie Nketiah, indicating that the club is willing to keep the striker as is.
Palace have a long-term interest in Nketiah, but Arsenal are refusing to budge.
According to Ryan Taylor of the Daily Express, while there is still interest in Nketiah, Mikel Arteta is determined to keep him. In addition to Palace’s offer being rejected, nothing has progressed with Newcastle United at this time.
That’s a big change from the previous few days, when a move to Newcastle appeared to be a serious possibility.
The Guardian said that Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe admires Nketiah and that the striker is on the club’s radar in the closing days of the transfer window.
Previously, The Telegraph reported on Friday that Newcastle are closing in on a deal for Nketiah and had been discreetly working on the transfer for some time.
They claimed that discussions with Arsenal are going well, and that Newcastle expects Nketiah to fly this weekend to finalise his deal.
Nketiah, on the other hand, looks to be in Dubai with the Arsenal team, and these fresh rumours indicate that the Gunners are far less eager to let him go than we may have anticipated.
Nketiah has scored five goals in 10 Arsenal appearances this season, all of which came in the League Cup. The 22-year-old has only played a total of 51 minutes in the Premier League this campaign.
