Arsenal technical director, Edu Gaspar had come under heavy criticism over the course of the season.
The Gunners failed to move out deadwood last summer and was really getting weighed down in games.
Edu and Mikel Arteta worked in close quarters to amend their mistakes and the Gunners look much more balanced now. There were over 6 outgoings from the senior side and 2 incomings in Maty Ryan and Martin Odegaard.
Signing a backup left-back and loaning out Reiss Nelson would have been ideal but Arsenal can’t be faulted for the way they handled other matters. Arteta praised his colleague as he said, “I think he is doing a great job at the club since I joined.
“The clarity that he showed when they came to try to convince me to join the club and then to stick to the plan we have and the way he is going about it, I am really impressed with him.”
Edu has been at Arsenal since 2019, returning to the club after playing for the club 14 years back. His role has evolved behind the scenes in a very short period where he is key in transfer negotiations.
Arsenal’s transitional phase greatly depends on Edu, Arteta, Vinai Venkatesham working closely with the owners to get the club back on it’s perch.
