Edu reveals Arsenal plans!

Arsenal have had a particular way of running in the last decade or two.

While Wenger’s arrival saw the club change their football style, their training system, the players diets and pretty much everything else, it did produce results. So much so that the Gunners were wealthy enough to build themselves a new stadium.

However, the stadium build meant budget cuts had to be maintained and players who are at the elite level could not be signed by the club anymore. They had to settle for average players or scout young talents.

While Wenger was a master and hence okay with the style, he could not replicate his success and it seems even less likely that Unai Emery will be able to take Arsenal back to the top and match the levels of Manchester City and Liverpool on this budget.

So the solution when there is still not much money being thrown around is to hire a technical director whose sol focus will be to provide the club with exceptional talents on good transfer deals.

That is where former Gunners midfielder Edu has come in and it seems both parties are interested in striking a deal.

Edu has confirmed the mutual interest.

“I have had a conversation with Arsenal and there is an interest,” the 40-year-old Brazilian television programme NO AR, as reported Football.London.

“I was very clear. I’m 100% focused on the Copa America and I’m not speaking about anything because of that tournament.

“If there is a chance that [Arsenal] want to speak to me and propose something after the Copa, I’ll make myself available so we can talk.”
