Arsenal manager Unai Emery feels that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has what it takes to win the Premier League Golden Boot this season.

Aubameyang gave a tremendous performance against Tottenham last weekend as Arsenal won 4-2. The Gabon international scored two goals and provided an assist.

Aubameyang is currently the top scorer of the Premier League with 10 goals from 14 appearances. He has two goals more than Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, Glenn Murray, Callum Wilson and Sergio Aguero, all of whom are tied at second place.

Emery said, “I want him to continue improving, and his challenge is also collective and individual. I want his challenge to be that he has the opportunity to be the best scorer in the Premier League. We want to help him achieve this and that is because, if he is scoring, he is helping us.

In his career he has played as a winger on the right, on the left and like a striker. He [has] played with two strikers. I use with him in every position for us. And sometimes his best performance is starting the match on the bench and then playing 20 or 25 minutes. In the last two matches he has had a very big performance, working and scoring.

I want to say to him and also to everyone: ‘don’t stop, continue with this commitment every match.’ It is also important that he takes confidence from matches like [Tottenham], not only from scoring but also from helping with pressing against them and [competing] well with the head against them. Now is the moment to say to him: ‘Don’t stop’.”

Aubameyang has proven himself to be one of the most lethal strikers in the world in the past three years. He was the Bundesliga top scorer for the 2016-17 season when he was playing for Borussia Dortmund.

Currently, Aubameyang is in prolific form and Arsenal will be counting on him to help them finish in the top four in the Premier League this season. Given the way the 29-year old has been scoring lately, it shouldn’t come as a surprise if Aubameyang wins the Premier League Golden Boot this season.
