Arsenal boss Unai Emery has come as the bearer of some bad news.
The Gunners boss has said his team are in a critical position in the market this month but cannot sign anyone on a permanent basis. Instead they will only try to negotiate for loan deals in the winter transfer market.
“We cannot sign anyone permanently,” Emery said ahead of Arsenal‘s Premier League clash against the Hammers on Saturday which might see former Arsenal man Samir Nasri return to the Emirates for an opposition team. “Only loan players this January.”, he added.
Arsenal were reportedly close to signing a deal for Denis Suarez of Barcelona but it seems that move will be put on hold. The Gunners have refused to extend Aaron Ramsey’s contract, meaning that they will lose a midfielder and Suarez was supposed to be the replacement coming in this month.
But Emery said: “I don’t know how his situation is but I know the club is working for the possibility of players who can help us with this condition (on loan).”
Arsenal fans will definitely be concerned with this policy as it might see them lose out on a top four finish for a second season running.
