Arsenal manager Unai Emery has thrashed an unnamed star player in the Arsenal ranks after their shock loss against Stade Rennais in the Europa League round of 16 match. The Gunners were defeated by the Ligue 1 side even after taking a 1-0 lead early in the match. The hosts came back strongly to score three goals and win the first leg of the contest by 3-1.
Speaking to the media ahead of their next match against Manchester United, which is a very important clash for both sides, to say the least, the Arsenal manager mentioned that one player in the club ranks is sadder than him with the shock result against Rennes. He said, One player was worse than me, more down than me, and I said to him: ‘Let’s speak tomorrow as you are sadder than me.’”
He added, “I want to listen to players with positive energy. I want to hear them say: ‘We can do it on Sunday.’ Our target is to play in the Champions League and we know it is not easy. We have two possibilities even if we know it is going to be difficult. With this responsibility the players are optimists. We can come with positive spirit and do it. I want to find positive energy.”
