Emery will only keep two stars at Arsenal: Neville

Former Manchester United captain and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville believes that Unai Emery will want an overhaul on his current squad within the next two years at the Emirates.

“Arsenal’s defeat earlier on was just typical of them,” Neville said on his Sky Sports Podcast. “The Watford game, which they did win a few weeks ago… they struggled with that, and Deeney was sent off after 20 minutes. And they really did struggle.”

“I have to say, every time I look at the Arsenal team I think: ‘How many players, really, would Unai Emery like to be at the club in two years?’” Neville added.

“If he’s going to be at the club in three of four years, how many of those players that started the game today would he think: ‘I want them with me in my third or fourth season.’

“And I’m sure Arsenal will give Unai Emery that time. It really is a squad that looks devoid of balance, of real quality and strength.

“They’ve got a couple of good strikers [Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette], there’s no doubt about that, and that’s helping them.

“He’s (Emery) doing a brilliant job for them to be where they are.”
