Unai Emery has all but ruled out a possible return for Laurent Koscielny.
Gunners boss Emery, talking after Arsenal lost their final game of their US tour to Real Madrid on penalties, said: “I spoke about him with respect to him. I tried for him to be with us in the pre-season here and to continue working to find a solution between the club, between him and between us.”
“When he decided not to stay with us here in the tour, the solution now is only for the club and him because he decided to be out of the team in pre-season.
“I respect him, but we have responsibility, he has his responsibility and the club has their responsibility and I have my responsibility. And now it is one issue only for the club and for him. My idea is continuing with the players we are working with and the players that want to be here.”
Emery was otherwise happy with how his team finished the season.
Emery said: “Really we are very happy we finished today that match with the same spirit we played before and also you see different players taking minutes, taking confidence and I think the result is not important but really, really I think also we play one match today showing a good level and when we needed young players also the performance was perfect.
“I’m really, really, happy, the players are working really well every day. The tour was perfect for us to be here in the United States and also because we have a lot of supporters here in LA, in Denver, in Charlotte and here and it is really great to feel them is for us, important.
