Mikel Arteta certainly rates Emile Smith Rowe highly.
After Arsenal’s 4-2 win over Dundalk, the midfielder received high praise from his manager after laying out an assist and scoring the previous game.
Smith Rowe has returned from the lengthy injury spell to feature for the Gunners this season. He has been unfortunate with his fitness but has shown plenty of quality when allowed to play. The England youth international spent the past season on loan with Huddersfield Town and essentially their best attacking outlet.
Arteta recognizes the fact that Smith Rowe lacks in experience but has all the potential to succeed at Arsenal. He said, “He hasn’t played many games and he’s playing in a position that doesn’t suit him perfectly with his qualities. But you can see that every time he is around the ball, something is going to happen.
“He has a lot of creativity, he’s a player who has the quality to receive the ball and do things in areas where there are high-value spaces after it gets opened. He’s a threat and I’m really happy with his performance.”
That is precisely the type of player Arsenal right at this moment. Smith Rowe, while not a finished product can hope to earn more minutes as the season progresses.
