Arsenal are currently setting up future plans to deal with Petr Cech’s vacant spot when he retires from professional football.
According to Emiliano Martinez, he is ready to take up the veteran’s responsibilities in between the sticks. The Argentine keeper is currently spending the remainder season out on loan with Championship outfit, Reading having completed a move to the Madejski Stadium this January.
Apparently, the 26-year-old has been assured by the Gunners that he will be handed the number two spot when he makes his return to the Emirates next summer.
Martinez told the press, “I have three years left on my contract at Arsenal. Now Cech is retiring I was told when I came to Reading that next year they want me to be the backup. But I’m not thinking about next season yet.”
“I am not thinking about what may happen in the summer, we will look at it then. All I know is Reading is my team now.”
