Arsenal have officially denied they are in advanced talks to sign Roma midfielder Manu Kone, despite widespread reports suggesting a summer move was close to completion.

Arsenal Rule Out Kone Swoop After Romano Dismisses Advanced Talks

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that the Premier League champions have firmly distanced themselves from the 25-year-old France international.

This comes after Italian outlet Corriere della Sera claimed that Arsenal had already agreed personal terms with the player and were only negotiating a transfer fee with Roma.

According to Romano, Arsenal are not currently targeting Kone. Club sources have made it clear the Frenchman does not feature in their summer plans, even as Mikel Arteta looks to add at least one new central midfielder.

The denial is further supported by Matteo Moretto, who confirmed there is no truth to the speculation and that the Gunners are holding off on any advanced talks.

The rumors gained traction partly because Roma face pressure to balance their books before the June 30 UEFA financial settlement deadline.

The Italian club values Kone at around €45-50 million, and his sale would generate significant capital gains.

Kone joined Roma from Borussia Mönchengladbach in August 2024 for €18 million and is under contract until 2029.

He is currently away with France at the World Cup and has stated he will discuss his future after the tournament.

Despite the denial, Arsenal remain active in the transfer market. Sporting director Berta is already in talks over a deal for Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi.

The club is also monitoring other targets, including Club Brugge’s Christos Tzolis and PSG winger Bradley Barcola, as they look to add three or four new signings to their title-winning squad.

For now, the Kone speculation appears to be closed. Arsenal’s focus has shifted to other priorities, and the France international does not appear to be heading to the Emirates this summer.
