Arsenal have reached a decision over their wage cut issue with the players.
For weeks, the club has been in a war with the players over wage cuts. Arsenal was in trouble financially for some time now. The club’s situation got a lot worse over the last few weeks after the players were told that wage cuts could become very real.
The situation worsened because of the Coronavirus spread around Europe which has suspended football and sent every club into a financial crisis. The players were told to take pay cuts.
They were told that pay cuts of 12.5% will be given to all players and members of coaching staff. The pay cuts would be reduced if players were able to make it to Europa League and completely reduced if they can qualify for Champions League.
However, both the reduction of the cut and removal of it will be dependent on the profit made by the club from the qualifications.
It would seem for now that the players and coaches including captain Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and coach Mikel Arteta have all accepted barring three players. Of the three players who refused, one of them is the club’s highest earner in Mesut Ozil!
Way to be a team player, Mesut.
