Steve Nicol urged Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish to join Man United over Arsenal.

Jack Grealish is considered as one of the best Premier League players at the moment and has helped Villa secure their return to the top flight this campaign.

Manchester United has been heavily linked with the midfielder throughout the summer and might offer a fresh new deal in the January transfer window.

Former Liverpool legend Steve Nicol thinks that Grealish is made for Man United, hence a move to the Emirates won’t make sense in any case.

‘Manchester United lack consistency and they need to get players, who are not only consistent, but consistent at really high level that will take a club like Manchester United back to where they think they belong, which is fighting for Premier Leagues and fighting for European trophies,’ Nicol told ESPN.

‘Jack Grealish can do that.

‘I think absolutely Manchester United are crying out for a Jack Grealish, a guy who keeps the ball, a guy who will do his bit defensively.

‘We talk about [Paul] Pogba at United, not been able to defend. Jack Grealish does everything.

‘He goes forward and he goes backwards and he has class and he has control. So, I think Jack Grealish is made for Manchester United.’

Nicol added: ‘I’m not sure where Arsenal are going. They’ve been pretty stagnant for five or six years now.

‘If I’m Jack Grealish and I’m class every time I step on the field, I want to go somewhere who is either at the top or a club who can get to the club again.

‘I would suggest Man United, with the money they have, they can buy their way back to the top. If I’m Jack Grealish, I’m looking at Manchester United before Arsenal.

‘Arsenal are going the wrong way. Grealish is going upwards and Arsenal are going downwards. It doesn’t make any sense professionally for him to go to Arsenal.’
