Danny Welbeck wishes to have played more games for Arsenal.

The former Man United forward spent five seasons with the North London club after leaving Old Trafford in 2014.

He has scored 32 goals in 126 appearances for the Gunners but spent most of his time on the treatment table.

During his five-year stint, he won the FA Cup and Community Shield with Arsene Wenger.

Welbeck has suffered knee, cartilage, ankle issues during his time at the Emirates Stadium.

“I’ve got a lot of love and respect for the Arsenal fans, who treated me so well during my time at the club,” Welbeck said in a pre-match programme.

“Obviously I went through a difficult time with injuries, which was really frustrating, and I’d have loved to play more games for the club and been able to pay them back a lot more.

“But every time I was on the pitch, around the club or out and about, the fans always showed me a lot of love, which I’ll always be grateful for and something I’ll always hold dearly.”
